nGenius® Intelligence

Sniffer Intelligence speeds performance analysis and problem resolution. It automatically recognizes hundreds of well-known applications such as SAP R/3, Oracle, MS Exchange, and VoIP traffic. Each type of application incorporates a rich set of packet-flow statistic, charts, and graphs to simplify the analysis process. As more details are required, Sniffer Experts and Decodes are only a mouse click away to translate complex technical jargon into plain English to better tune applications and networks.

Sniffer Intelligence is delivered as a component of Sniffer Analysis, and is available without charge to all nGenius InfiniStream users. Optional modules are available for Financial Trading (Financial Intelligence) and Mobile carrier applications (Mobile Intelligence).

Sniffer Intelligence

Identify Hundreds of Applications

Features:
  • Automatic discovery: Identifies popular packaged applications based on their packet flow signatures, breaks out clients and servers to see who is using the network, and provides detailed response times to help solve problems and anomalies.
  • Customer-aided discovery: Provides recognition of custom applications with equal granularity.
  • Rich set of metrics: Includes more than one hundred application flow-based metrics, including detailed response times (broken into Server and Network times), TCP Efficiencies, throughput statistics, anomalies, and Quality of Service (QoS) levels.
  • Identifies VoIP calling and called parties based on endpoint identification for VoIP analysis; includes phone numbers, extensions, SIP URI’s, end user names and IP addresses
  • Successful application rollouts: Provides the level of detail needed to gauge whether a new application is performing as expected. This application monitoring solution also helps you see how the new application affects, and is affected by, other applications.
  • HyperLock™ multi-dimensional filtering: Enables flexible drill-down analysis that caters to the way networking people work to solve incidents.

NetScout is committed to meet the specific needs of financial services firms transmitting trade order flows and leveraging multicast market data feeds. Powered by nGenius InfiniStream appliances to capture trade orders and feeds, Sniffer Financial Intelligence is the answer.

    Features:
  • Leverages nGenius InfiniStream appliances and runs on Sniffer Analysis as an optional Sniffer Intelligence module
  • Track flow and latency of individual trades, and measure latencies per order type (such as Order Fill versus Order Replace)
  • Analyze latencies and delta times of orders and partial fills and their messages
  • View session summaries per trading station and drill down by ECN, Market, Currency, Security Type, etc.
  • Analyze latencies of trading stations, exchange order execution, quotes, and mass quote messages
  • Report trends of latencies over time and transaction delay distributions
  • Leverages data from nGenius InfiniStream
  • Specific performance metrics on market data flows: stream efficiency, IP delay variations, retransmissions, packet loss identification, out-of-sequence packet analysis, microburst analysis, etc.

Sniffer® Mobile Intelligence enables mobile wireless carriers to test, deploy, and operate 2.5G, 3G and emerging 4G mobile wireless data networks by providing a means of examining subscriber sessions and performing protocol analysis. Utilized on the wired/core side of Universal Mobile Telecommunications Systems (UMTS), General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA)2000, WiMAX, and Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (W-CDMA) networks, Sniffer Mobile Intelligence helps mobile operators resolve issues related to subscriber registration, network latency, dropped packets, and application response times, as well as Mobile IP and GPRS Tunneling Protocols (GTP). The module is used in conjunction with nGenius® InfiniStream™ in order to take advantage of its extremely reliable high performance stream-to-disk architecture and massive storage capacity – providing visibility into wide time windows of retained packets.

    Features:
  • Mobile Environment Protocol Decodes - Leverage nGenius InfiniStream to provide insight into the following Mobile protocols:
    • 2.5G Mobile Wireless Networks
    • 3G and 4G Mobile Wireless Networks
    • Tunneling and Routing Encapsulation Protocols – GRE, IP-IP, GTP-U, Radius, and Diameter
    • CDMA Accounting and Control Protocols – Mobile IP, RADIUS, and Diameter
    • GSM/UMTS Accounting and Control Protocols – GTP-C, Radius, Diameter, and DNS
    • SIGTRAN – SCTP, M3UA, ISUP, etc.
    • IMS, SIP and SIP-T
    • IPv4 and IPv6
    • Broadcast and Multicast Services (BCMCS)
    • Wireless Application Protocols (WAP)
    • Short Message Peer-to-Peer Protocol (SMPP)
    • Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP)
    • Wireless Session Protocol (WSP)
  • Advanced Mobile Filtering: Efficiently mine wide timeframes of traffic to discover mobile sessions for specific subscribers. Filtering on mobile core network controls protocols, International Mobile Subscriber Identifier (IMSI), Network Access Identifier (NAI), Mobile Station ISDN (MSISDN), and Access Point Name (APN).
  • Subscriber Summary: Enabled in combination with nGenius InfiniStream, Sniffer Mobile Intelligence provides a list of subscriber session data sessions that match the subscriber and time-based filters selected in the mining console.
  • Expert Analysis: Expert symptoms and diagnoses make it possible to discover network inefficiencies before they lead to more substantial deterioration in network performance. Sniffer Mobile Intelligence integrates with nGenius InfiniStream to provide Expert analysis for GTP, Mobile IP and RADIUS.
  • Call Trace Visualization: Subscriber data sessions can be presented in a ladder diagram as a graphical depiction of specific communications. For each subscriber session total elapsed time is presented along with individual delays associated with individual messages/commands.
